Pop the Magic Dragon
Okay, it's more like a dinosaur. Well, it IS a dinosaur, but who cares. This image depicts the wonder of a child's imagination at his level. This boy is obsessed with all things dinosaurs. So what better way to incorporate this passion than in to a composite. Which is exactly what I did.
The How
Quite simply, I asked for the client to provide me a picture of the subject, in this case, Mason, to stare at an object placed on the dining room table. See the before image below. I then extracted the boy from the image, extended the table, and composited some images of dinosaurs, which I then painted to achieve a more whimsical look.

The Presentation
Presentation is everything! It can bring an exciting pop to an image and direct the viewers' attention to precisely where the artist intends. I love exploring new ways of presenting images, and am often asked how I do it. It's not hard, really. In the video below, I review this question and provide a quick video tutorial on how I achieved the image for "Pop the Magic Dragon." (Yes, I'm still going with the dragon thing...). I am NOT proficient and YouTube videos, however, it was much easier to demonstrate on a video. So take a view, and, as always, keep creating!
